I spent the entire weekend vegging on the sofa with my babies. We had a X-Men marathon, pigged out on junk food and had long debates on what kind of mutant powers we would love to have (I want to be able to read people’s minds 😉 LOL) But it was during this time my twelve year old asked me a really interesting question: what is the one thing I could not live without? My immediate response was, you guys! But he must have seen that answer coming, because he added quickly: not people!
I thought to say my books, but which book? I thought maybe my phone since I can write and read on it, but if I were on an island without electricity, a phone is kind of pointless. I thought a pen and pad, but eventually my pen would run out and my pad would get filled up. Ultimately, I had nothing. O_O Apparently, I am not a materialistic person. Everything I think I need, I can and may eventually let go of.
Then, it came to me! I knew exactly what I couldn’t live without. Besides the obvious things like air, food, and water, there are only a few things I need in my life.

1) Laughter — I love laughing. I really don’t think I’d know what to do with myself if I wasn’t making some joke or sarcastic retort. Making others laugh also makes me very happy.
2) My voice — If I can’t write stories, at least I can tell them.
3) Freedom — I think it’s one of those things a lot of people take for granted, but considering how many are forced to live without it … I really couldn’t live without.
Lame? Maybe, but when it all boils down to the wants and needs, when the zombies roam the earth, we can only be realistic.
So, tell me what three things you can’t live without and why in the comments below (no people!)
