What is your book about?
The Broken Destiny is about a girl who is destined to free her kind and those like her. She carries a secret weapon within her soul, but to unleash this weapon she has to know who and what she truly is – the biggest challenge is that she believes in herself. The only way is to become what she, is to find out who she is not.
Has any other author(s) inspired your writing?
I learn from every book I read.
What do you think your writing style is?
I write with emotion pure and simple. I writing is poetic in that every chapter is written around the chapter heading.
Do you have any suggestions for beginning writers?
Yes read as much as you can, write every day. Edit , edit, edit. Never stop learning. Patience.
When did you decide you wanted to be a writer?
I have always been a writer and always dreamed of writing for a magazine. But it was only in 2009 when I started my first novel that I wanted to become a published author.
Why should readers consider your novel?
I think many can relate to Ava’s emotional journey. I believe my readers will find some sense of belonging and inspiring message between the pages.
Were any of your characters a reflection of you?
Yes . My writing comes from a place I know. So the only way I write is by truth, by exploring what I know, and have experienced. So each of them have a little me in there. But mostly Ava goes through a lot I went through during my teenage years. The fears, the battles, the bullying, the abuse, the over the top drama every teenager goes through. In the end – it will always be okay.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I use to be a major athlete. Figure- skater, gymnast, track and field. Dancer, and field hockey player.
What is your favorite part of the book?
I love to right really conflicting scenes. I love writing the villains. My favorite part is all the action.
How did you start your writing career?
Well it started with my first attempted with my Debut – The Broken Destiny. I set the MS aside for a year to complete a diploma in creative writing through the writing school at Collage SA. That developed my style and knowledge three fold. I haven’t stopped writing since then. I have been recruited by a nonprofit inspirational magazine since then, my first ‘piece’ will be published this August.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my story with you and your readers.
