Everyone is busy with life this day and age. I sound old saying that, but it’s true. The same is true for me. I’m lucky in that I’m able to stay at home with my kids, but we’re rarely at home. I shuffle the oldest to the bus stop before the sun rises over the hills, when the fog is still thick on the ground and the deer hide in it. I drive back home to get my youngest ready and then we drive half an hour to her school. Add a trip to Walmart, the bank, the post office and I finally settle in my seat at the library.
Church isn’t the only place people claim seats, y’all. I have my chair, my table that I prefer and if it’s taken, I’m not as productive. It’s probably all in my head, but it’s still a fact. So I type my guts out for two hours and go pick the youngest back up and we head home where lunch is the main goal. Because my youngest is always hungry. She even tries to eat our dog.
We play for an hour, fold laundry, vacuum and load into the car again to go pick my oldest up at the bus stop again. Drive home. Make dinner. Homework and visiting my mom (AKA Mamaw) with the girls and then before we know what’s hit us, Hubby’s home. We’re eating dinner. Baths then bed. The day is gone.
It doesn’t seem like much, but time truly flies. It’s the same every day, every week, month, year. I am trying to hold on to the little moments with my munchkins. Trying to be a wife. Trying to conquer my dreams by writing the best books I can and somewhere in there, I hope you’re reminded that this life is too short to wait. If you’re waiting, stop waiting. If you’re scared, face your fear. I’m not talking about writing, but about your dreams. Chase them while you have time. Life is precious and short and you may not get a second chance.
