AIRICKA’S NEW YEAR CHECKLIST 2021

As I focus on the abundance I already have, I naturally attract more & more

Good morning my darlings!

Only two days away from the big day and – despite having about a million things to get ready – I am here to share my New Year’s Checklist with you.

How I Retrained My Brain to serve me

Why do I have a preparation checklist, you ask? because 1) I like lists, and 2) I like being prepared. Nothing frustrates me more than scrambling around trying to get everything together. This way, I make sure I have everything I need to have a calm and relaxing evening.

I legit have a million lists for every part of my day.

My holiday list usually looks the same, more or less. There’s the odd tweak, but ultimately, I keep it the same.

MY NEW YEAR’S CHECKLIST

Your goal list

Don’t overwhelm yourself with this one. I try to pick three goals for the year. Nothing extreme and unrealistic, but I always make sure they’re fun and make me excited. I try to give myself a time frame as well, again, realistic given the amount of work each one would require.

A New Journal (and pen)

Before Dec 31st, grab yourself a pretty journal. I usually hit up my local dollar store, but you can grab a bunch of really pretty ones from Amazon if you don’t want to leave your house right now. The pen doesn’t necessarily have to be new, but I like having a new pen with my new journal. This journal will be where you record your fresh, new year.

Favorite Candle

This is a self preference kind of thing. I love the smell of a sugar cookie candle when I journal between December-January. That preference changes when we dip into February. But I always light a candle when I’m meditating or journaling. You can pick whichever scent speaks the loudest to you, or just makes you feel happy and calm.

Comfiest PJs

Unless you’re at a party or surrounded by guest, I say get comfortable! Dress in clothes that make you happy and relaxed. Make yourself cozy. I never need an excuse to slip into my jammies, but on New Years, I will wear my coziest pair, pull on fluffy socks, stuff my hair into a knot, and cuddle down under a blanket.

Clear, Positive Intentions

There’s a tradition in my family that you don’t bring the negative things of the past year with you on the eve of the new year. Any intention, fears, worry, stress you’re feeling the moment the bells toll will stay with you throughout the entire year. I’m a bit crazy about this one. I will make sure my house is spotless, my fridge full, my meal that night filling and home cooked. I will make that night all about me and my family all so that abundance, happiness, togetherness continues for the rest of the new year. The same goes for my intentions. I will immediately dismiss and disregard anything that doesn’t serve me, that doesn’t give me joy. It’s not an easy fate, but it’s one night. Focus on everything good and abundant in your life.

Get Grapes!

Now, before you judge me, I recently learned that we are not the only ones who do this. It’s a tradition in my family that we eat twelve grapes at midnight. With each one, you make a wish for the new year. But you have to eat them quickly, but carefully! Don’t choke. lol. You have to eat all twelve before 12:01am.

Be Grateful

I don’t think it needs to be said. True, 2020 really wasn’t the best year for anyone, but there are a thousand things to be grateful for, even if you really have to think about it. Remember that you have eyes to see, air to breathe, a roof over your head, food in your belly, clothes to keep you warm. There is literally something to be thankful for. Don’t go into the next year feeling sorry for yourself and all the things you lack.
