Airicka’s the name, writing young adult paranormal novels is my game. If you’ve found this page that means you share my love of A) young adult books B) paranormal romance or C) all the above.
My love of all things mythical began in third grade when my teacher asked the class to write a short story. My muse, the clever she-devil that she is, rewrote the entire plot to Beauty and the Beast. In my version, Belle and Beast set out in search of the Enchantress (the witch who had cast Beast under his terrible curse). In their perilous
journey, they come across several colorful and exciting new characters who both help and hinder their quest to set the Beast and those in the castle free. So, in short, what was supposed to fit in a single, double-lined notebook, wound up in three notebooks (my mom still has them).
After that fateful assignment, I was hooked. I couldn’t stop. I had savored my very first taste of something bigger than anything I had ever known and I wanted more. My mind was suddenly a fountain of ideas, thoughts and characters. I began to write everything down. Everything I was feeling, seeing, thinking. Before long, I had a mountain of binders, notebooks and pages all brimming with everything my overflowing brain could no longer hold. I wanted so badly to get published, to share all my thoughts and ideas with the world.
Not once have I stopped writing nor will I ever. There are just too many stories I need to tell, too many characters begging to be unleashed upon the world. My only dilemma: there are not enough hours in the day. I would gladly sit and write for days, weeks, months. The drive is that powerful. I can only thank my lucky stars that I have such an understanding family. Their support in my journey is a gift I could never put into words. I will make them proud.
